Zechariah 2:4-5 (NKJV)
“Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. For I”, says the Lord, “will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.”

Sometimes growth can be scary. If we want God to take us places we’ve never been before, we have to be willing to do things we’ve never done before. And stepping out into the unknown often comes with risks and uncertainties.

While having walls around our cities isn’t typically a high priority today, I’d imagine it was very important during the time of Zechariah. Walls provided protection for the people at a time when it was desperately needed. But physical walls would have limited the growth and prosperity in Jerusalem that God had promised through this prophecy.

Is there an area of your life where the protective “walls” that you’ve put up are limiting your growth? While we were never promised a journey free of risks and trials, God has promised to be with us always and guide us along the best pathway for our life (Psalm 32:8).

The wall of protection that He offers us is stronger than anything we could possibly build ourselves!
