1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)
Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

Picture this with me. You’ve just spent days/weeks/months worrying about a trial or challenge in your life. It could be anything at all but it’s been taking up way too much space in your mind for way too long. But now it’s over with — one way or another God has brought you through yet again. Sound familiar? It’s something we’ve all gone through more times than we’d probably like to admit.

If we’re honest, the first thing we feel is likely pure relief. But often something else settles in once the situation is behind us…discouragement. “When will I finally learn to fully trust God and stop wasting my time with anxiety and doubt?”

While there’s nothing wrong with challenging ourselves to take a step forward in strengthening our faith, we don’t need to become depressed or frustrated that we are still fighting the fight. When Peter tells us to cast our anxieties on God, he’s clearly implying that we will have anxieties. However, he’s encouraging us to fight back by reassuring us that God cares about even the smallest details in our lives.

As long as we’re on this earth, we’re going to encounter spiritual battles. Avoid falling into discouragement by remembering how far you’ve come with God and then pressing on toward where He wants to take you next!
