John 3:6 (ESV)That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Have you ever been a victim of a rumor? Especially one that is nowhere near true. I have. Once there was a rumor that I was leaving ministry altogether but what I was actually doing was preparing to plant Fervent Church. When I was confronted about the rumor by someone who cared enough to talk to me directly, I asked where did they hear this rumor. They told me they heard it from a person who barely knew me. I simply ended the conversation by saying, “Do me a favor… next time, consider the source.”
It’s very important to consider the source of anything you hear. It can be the determining factor on whether or not you are going to let it influence you. John 3:6 tells us that if it’s born of the flesh it will be flesh, and if it’s born of the spirit it is spirit. Today when you hear something that might influence you, ask yourself, “Where is this coming from?” Is it from the Spirit, or is it made up by the flesh? Consider the source. It just might be the game changer to your day.
