Identity Question: If you take away your name, how would you answer the question, “Who are you?”

Our identity should determine, what we DO, how we SEE things, and how we RESPOND. Describe some examples of how your identity has determined what you have DONE, SEEN, and RESPONDED. Give a positive example, as well as an example where you fell short in living out your Christian identity.

Pastor Mike taught us that our:
SOUL = WHO WE ARE (Can listen to either the SPIRIT or the FLESH.)
SPIRIT = LIFE (It is life-giving because it connects us to God.)
BIBLE = TRUTH of God (Encourages & rejuvenates the SPIRIT)
FLESH = DEATH (No help at all because it focuses on fulfilling.)
During the Message, Pastor Mike brought three people up on stage to represent our SPIRIT, SOUL, and FLESH. He demonstrated how the SOUL will listen to either the SPIRIT or our FLESH, and that the SOUL can turn its back on either, and scripture reminds us that we can crucify our FLESH as we worship in SPIRIT (LIFE) and TRUTH (BIBLE). What part of this example made the biggest impact on you? Did any part of the example not make sense or seem realistic? Explain what was confusing.

Pastor Mike also taught the following points this Sunday:
Your SPIRIT is your connection with God
Your SPIRIT is who you are, not what you do, and it is important to remember that your SPIRIT is how you connect with God. Our Body is designed to be our servant, not our master. How can you remind yourself not to be led by your body, but through your spirit and its connection with God?

Your SOUL needs to be led
Your SOUL is made up of MIND, WILL, EMOTION, which is why your SOUL needs to be told things repeatidly. What are some ways that you can lead your soul? Are there any scriptures that could help you?

Your FLESH needs to shut-up
Before we had salvation, our SPIRIT was dead, but after we experienced salvation, our SPIRIT was alive. Now our FLESH tries to direct our SOUL contrary to the SPIRIT. What are some ways that you can “tell your flesh to shut-up”?

What are you going to consult today, your flesh or your spirit? Although it is a straightforward question, list three ways that will better position you (and help encourage the others within your group) this week to choose SPIRIT over FLESH.
