TODAY’S MAIN IDEA: Being on FIRE, will always lead to being on Mission.

START THE CONVERSATION – QUESTIONS:

Mark Twain famously said, “The two most important days in your life – the day you are born, and the day you find out why.” Share one of your favorite birthday memories, whether as a child or an adult. Describe the many details of this memory to the group.

This week we talked about fire, including how fire is made. Many people enjoy camping and one of the best parts of the experience is the campfire. If you have ever been camping, whether simply in the backyard or some elaborate campsite, describe some memories, especially ones around the campfire.

BIBLE READING: READ 1 Peter 4:7 – 11 (NASB)

The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaint. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Being ‘On FIRE, On Mission’:

  1. Fervent LOVE is the IGNITION point

This week, a special message of Fervent LOVE was presented to the congregation – one for the ladies, and one for the men. The messages were as follows:

For the LADIES:

  • You are beautiful
  • You are Good Enough
  • Never settle for less than God’s Best for your life.

 For the MEN:

  • You are BRAVE
  • You have what it TAKES
  • Do God’s Best

Did any of the above points particularly resonate with you and where there any words of encouragement that you needed to hear? If willing, share with the group, and why the statement had such impact.

  1. Being on Fire is part of a CHAIN REACTION

When JESUS becomes a part our life – our lives begin to change, as well as our perspective, our outlook, and even our priorities. In addition, Pastor Ed Young said, “The radically rescued, rescue radically.” In a sense, each of has been rescued radically, regardless of how checkered our past may or may not seem. With that in mind, what has been the biggest positive change in your life since encountering Jesus?

An OVERFLOWING CUP

A cup in the Bible represents a person’s fate and their destiny. In addition, in a place like the Middle East, where water was scarce – an overflowing cup implied ABUNDANCE. What perspective do you have, based upon what season you are in currently, is your Cup empty? Half full? Overflowing?

ACTION ITEMS:

  • SOMEONE is waiting for your SOMETHING – This is our action step!!

A thermometer, reads the temperature, while a thermostat changes the environment. Do you find that you are more likely to blend into a circumstance or have the ability to change and influence those around you? If you can, give an example of either.

God will not waste any painful moment. When you live ON FIRE and ON MISSION – God will transform even your greatest pains and challenges into GOOD. Can you describe an example of how God redeemed a difficult or challenging time in your life for good? How can you use that to help others?

Finally, as we conclude, read, internalize and embrace the following statements:

  • OUR MISSION TODAY IS TO LOVE!!!
  • OUR MISSION TODAY IS TO SERVE OTHERS!!
  • OUR MISSION TODAY IS TO RESCUE RADICALLY!!!
  • YOU ARE THE SPARK – YOU ARE THE FLAME!!!
  • YOU ARE AN EXPLOSION OF LOVE AND SERVICE to a hurting world that needs Jesus!!!
  • The two most important days in your life – the day you were born, and the day you find out why.

Can you describe your “WHY” for your life, be as specific as possible, in regards to passion, mission, and service to others.
