It’s Beginning to Look a lot like… (STRESS)

MEETUP WEEK #4 Format: Hangout

& Missional Event

Tonight’s DC is designed to be a night that your group hangs out and focuses on getting to know one another better. In addition, your group has the opportunity to invite others to join your group. You may take this opportunity to go out to do a social event, host a game night, or even have a movie night.

Included this week are some questions to help start the conversation, if you don’t already have a focus or activity. In addition, there is a review of the sermon along with some additional questions to consider

  • What gives you the greatest pleasure and joy during the Christmas season?

  • What causes the greatest amount of stress for you during the Christmas Season?

FOR Hangout & Missional Event

Matthew 1:18-25 NKJV

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus , for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.

STRESS: Emotional strain or tension as a result of not trusting in positive results.

TRUST: Reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone.

Questions to Consider:

  • Prayer Life: Is your prayer life filled with questions or a questioning spirit?

  • Are you OK with God saying “No” or “Not now”?

  • Don’t take care – take risks. What is the next risk that God wants you to take?

Fuel for Trust:

◆ Revelation of who He is

◆ Revelation of His love for you

◆ Revelation of our limited knowledge

  1. No need to rush.
  2. No need for an explanation.
  3. No need to control the outcome.
