Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
Have you ever had a moment when you wished you could just ask God what His will is in a specific situation? I know I’ve had this exact thought countless times, and clearly Jesus knew the disciples were thinking the same thing when He told them He was going to be with the Father. They relied on His guidance and they thought they would be going it alone without Him.
But Jesus responds that it’s actually better that He goes away, so the Holy Spirit would come. If it feels like you’re drifting through life, simply guessing at God’s will for you, connect with His Holy Spirit. Be diligent in spending time in prayer and scripture so you’ll be able to discern the difference between His leading and your own thoughts. Take a look at where the choices you’ve made so far are leading you. Are you experiencing the fruit of the Spirit we see in Galatians 5:22-23 or are you struggling to find peace in your life?
God has a plan for every one of us — take some time this morning to ask for the leading of His Spirit as you go through your day.
