POWER Series – POWER…to WITHSTAND
MEETUP WEEK #2 Format: TESTIMONY & SHARING
TRIAL, TRUTH, TRIUMPH
TODAY’S MAIN IDEA: We have the power to WITHSTAND (to go undamaged) through the temptations and trials of life due to the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s His POWER, but our RESPONSIBILITY to live it out.
START THE CONVERSATION – QUESTIONS:
How prepared are you for the next season of your life? Do you even know what the next season of your life may look like? Discuss your readiness and what some of your hopes for the future.
How prepared are you for God to answer your prayers? What are some of your current prayers? What if God answered it in the affirmative?
TESTIMONY TIME – SHARE THREE MINUTES
We ask that you share no longer than 3 Minutes, in order for all group members to have a chance to share. Everyone may not get a chance to share this month, but if that is the case, your DC leader will be sure to start with you next month. (You may want to have a timekeeper – use your phone and gently remind or guide those who share when the time is up.)
SHARE THREE ELEMENTS:
What happened – why you are going through this challenge, the cause, and the background? PLEASE BE CONCISE.
Where did you meet God in this experience – how did God influence and touch you in this circumstance.
How did it end? Please share the positive outcome of how God
This week’s Testimony FOCUS: Power to WITHSTAND
Share a time when you had to “WITHSTAND” when you were in the midst of a challenging season (wilderness, failure, trying times, temptations, unanswered prayers, dry season, uncertainty). What lesson did you learn and how did God see you through the this season and into another season?
List specific ways of how the power of your salvation has impacted your life. What are some ways that you can share with other’s about your salvation? What could you share? With whom will you share?

WITHSTAND – To go undamaged
Please Read ROMANS 4:1 – 11 (NIV),
Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness
4:1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” 10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” 11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
What parts of the scripture passage stood out to you? What part is the most encouraging? What part is the most challenging? What does this passage tell us about “POWER”?
Power to WITHSTAND:
1.) Be LEAD – Listen to the Holy Spirit
- Let us be a church that listen’s to God so much, that when another voice speaks, it is clear that it is NOT Jesus.
2.) Be PREPARED
- When God brings blessings, it comes with Battles.
3.) Be YOU
- Replace “If you are…”, with “I am…”
- Nothing to PROVE – Nothing to LOSE – Nothing to HIDE.
- Instead of JESUS proving his identity, Jesus STOOD on his identity.
4.) Be OBEDIENT – Stay on Track
- Just because there is silence, doesn’t mean there isn’t direction.
5.) Be HUMBLE – Sit Down
6.) Be AGGRESSIVE in a Passive Culture
- Difference between influencing and being influencing.
